HBTA Policies and Procedures
Anti-Discrimination Policy
We have a policy of supporting the rights of all staff, students and visitors to fair and equitable treatment including respect for individual cultural and religious beliefs. All the affairs and training activities of the organisation are conducted in a non-discriminatory language and in a non-discriminatory manner as far as the law and Training Packages permit.
The Academy adheres to, and implements, the provisions as laid down by the Queensland Anti-discrimination Act. We also adhere to Commonwealth and State legislation as it applies to the implementation of training in all States and Territories where we deliver training.
The Academy, as a supporter of Anti-discrimination legislation, enforces that in the selection of, and participation in, an accredited training program, no student or trainee shall be discriminated against on the grounds of:
- age
- gender
- sexual preference
- race or language
- religious orientation and/or cultural beliefs
- educational, mental or physical ability
- socio-economic status
within the limits defined by government contract, industry and/or Training Package requirements.
However, training package rules and government contracts may place certain restrictions on us in terms of who we can enrol in a specific program or the conditions under which we can accept an enrolment. One example is the Australian Skills Voucher scheme, which places strict restrictions on who can enrol for a Work or Business skills voucher.
Any individual who has evidence that any staff member or student has acted in a discriminatory manner may make a formal complaint to the Academy. Our Complaints Policy outlines the process for this.
