Enrolling with HBTA
Fees and Charges

Enrolment fees
Your fees will vary depending on the qualification, short course and assessment pathway. While we do not charge a fee for national recognition of identical units, we do apply an administrative charge for credit transfer against similar units.
Payment in full is required when you enrol, though an instalment plan can be negotiated for full qualification enrolments or at the sole discretion of HBTA.
Programme fees are indicated in both the Prospectus and Enrolment Form available from the Academy or this page. These fees are reviewed in November of each year and any changes become current in January of the following year. All figures quoted are in Australian Dollars and must be paid for in this currency.
Enrolment fees do not include GST.
All enrolment fees which we receive are held in a separate account until expiry of the cooling off period to allow for payment of refunds where necessary.
Note, however, that all appropriate funds must be received and cleared prior to the Academy issuing the qualification (Certificate or Statement of Attainment). This is allowed under the following Queensland legislation:
- Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000, Act No. 23 of 2000. Reprint 2, Jan 2004 s 43 (2)(b)
- Regulations under the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000, Act No. 23 of 2000, Reprint 2, Jan 2004

Service Charges
At the moment, we are only applying a fee for the following services and that GST applies to these charges:
| Service | Fee (incl. GST) |
|---|---|
| Re-issue qualification or Statement of Attainment | $33.00 per document |
| Mentoring and support for issues not related to your enrolment | $55.00 per hour |
The fee for credit transfer of similar units is currently $75.00 (excluding GST) per unit.
If you have more involved issues which are affecting your study or personal life, we may recommend that you seek professional assistance outside of HBTA. While some Academy staff are qualified and able to provide a measure of support, we recognise that assistance from an impartial professional support person can be more beneficial in the long run. This is especially the case where time-intensive or long-term support may be required.
The Academy may, at its sole discretion, elect to waive the service fee for providing student counselling services. However, this will be discussed with you prior to any such services being provided. Where we do not waive the fee, the service will not be provided until payment arrangements are confirmed.
Note that this service is not identical to the mentoring service provided for training and assessment purposes.

Exclusions
Your enrolment fees exclude computer purchase, business software (e.g. MS Office) or internet access. We do not require you to own a computer but access to a computer with word processing and internet software is necessary for some units.
Any travel, accommodation and meal expenses are also additional to your enrolment fee unless stated otherwise on your enrolment form.

Instalments
Instalment payments are normally offered only for full certificate and/or workshop enrolments. This allows applicants to spread their fees over a longer period. However, since workshops do attract unavoidable fixed costs, we do require a 20% deposit of the scheduled course fee. This is a non-refundable deposit, though payments made could be transferred to an alternative program if unforeseen circumstances prevent you from attending.
If you commit yourself to any instalment payments, you should immediately notify the Academy if there are any delays in payment. Delays without negotiated settlement may result in the suspension of your enrolment until payments resume.
