This Certificate programme is designed to provide existing holders of the old BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training with the current qualification. It allows for the candidate to provide current work-based evidence to address units which do not fully map to the TAA40104 and to complete the five core TAA40104 units which do not map from the old qualification at all.
Applicants who hold the minimum units required to meet AQTF 2007 Essential Standards for Registration Standard 1.4 (BSZ401A, BSZ402A and BSZ403A) can also apply to bridge into the TAA40104. The fee to bridge into the full Certificate for these applicants will be significantly higher, however, due to the larger number of units in which full training or RCC will be required.
On the other hand, an applicant who only wishes to meet AQTF 2007 Essential standards for Registration Standard 1.4 will find their enrolment fees are quite low.
Our Training and Assessment Programmes Prospectus provides more information about the Bridging Programme including the relationship between the TAA40104 and the BSZ40198. It also contains specific information you need to know prior to enrolments. We recommend reading the program descriptors as well, as these documents describe what each unit covers, as well as the content of other units in the TAA40104 qualification. Both of these are included in our Training and Assessment Programmes Information Kit, available either in electronic (web-based) or printed format.
We recommend that you read this policy as it contains important information about your enrolment:

Enrolment requirements
Our enrolment forms summarise the prerequisite entry requirements for this qualification. They are specified by the TAA04 Training and Assessment Training Package version 2.1 (pages 68-39) and include:
- a sound grasp of written and verbal English to at least a Year 10 English and Maths standard is required
- the language of training is quite complex; someone with low literacy levels will struggle with this qualification
- in particular, you need to be able to calculate the cost of delivering and assessing a program
- foreign language or sign language translators may not assist a candidate in this program
- familiarity with at least basic computer operations and with using programs such as Microsoft Word™, Excel™ and Power Point™ to at least Certificate III in Business Administration level
- the level of skill required is broadly equivalent to Certificate III in Business Administration (or equivalent) as you must be able to create a document, edit it and incorporate elements such as tables, graphics, hyperlinks, and styles in formatting
- you are required to develop resources using these applications and submit them both in hard and electronic copy
- training in the use of these programs is available at additional charge (with the option of completing specific assessments for the relevant BSB07 Units)
- vocational competence at least at the same level as the training/assessment you expect to undertake with an RTO in the future
gained through
- a Certificate, Diploma, degree or other recognised qualification
- on-job training or industry experience in specific skills
In addition, we tend to find that applicants aged 25+ have a greater success in demonstrating vocational competency compared to younger applicants. If you have any doubts about your ability to meet the vocational competency requirement, please contact us.
If you feel you lack the necessary level of expertise in English but still wish to complete this program, please contact us to discuss your options. Reference to external LLN tutors can be made but any fees which they may charge are in addition to our fees for the Certificate program. We have helped several international students complete this qualification, including those with good reading skills in English, but only less well-developed skills in verbal expression. By the time these students finished their course, their English skills were well able to cope with the requirements (and terminology) of vocational education.
The TAA40104 does not come in a "one size fits all" category which is in strong contrast to the old BSZ40198, so it is important to discuss prior training experience and vocational competency skills before you enrol. This will enable us to replace specific assessment tasks with other methods of determining competency, such as Recognition of Current Competencies or workplace evidence.
We find that conducting a pre-enrolment interview or a Training Needs Analysis ensures that all candidates are advised of the most appropriate mix of Units for their unique requirements.
The Training and Assessment Programmes Information Kit covers these restrictions in more detail.

Recognition assessment
There are many ways to complete a program. This process recognises that you may not be a 'clean slate'. You may have completed training with another organisation (registered or unregistered training organisation or witn an employer, for example). You may also have working and life experience which you can use to demonstrate that you can already fulfill the tasks required by your chosen unit/s of competency.
There are four ways you can obtain a recognition assessment:
- Recognition of Prior Learning - your previous learning experiences & decided on the basis of documentary or interview evidence
- Recognition of Current Competencies - your current skills and skills, gained through a variety of means which do not inlcude formal learning, decided using a variety of methods
- National Recognition - automatically applies for an identical unit (same code, title and standards) in your program with us
- Credit Transfer - requires a judgement on our part between broadly equivalent (but not identical) Units or modules (combination of units) from accredited courses.
If you are interested in applying for Recognition, we recommend that you read the TAA40104 Programs RPL Handbook before contacting us and requesting an Application for an RPL Kit. The Handbook contains important and useful information regarding the collection of appropriate evidence. It also describes the process which we are obliged to follow in assessing Recognition applications.

Fees & charges
This program will cost at least $650.00 depending on the evidence which can be presented for RPL. This takes into consideration those units for which credit transfer is provided at no charge.
However, an individual who only has the minimum assessor competencies for AQTF 2007 Standard 1.4 (BSZ401A, BSZ402A and BSZ403A) or who lacks sufficient evidence for RPL against the gap units may find their program costs can be as high as $1,260 inclusive of gap training and full training fees for the remaining units.
Those who have the long-supererseded Category 1 and Category 2 qualifications and who live in Queensland may be eligible for a referral through Skilling Solutions Queensland. This will reduce your enrolment fee by $500 for RPL / RCC towards the full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Delivery
This is primarily a recognition program combined with work based evidence and/or on-job assessment for the five core units for which no relationship exists with the BSZ40198. Some units can also be completed through self-paced learning. Our Bridging Program Enrolment Form includes a table showing the equivalence relationship from BSZ40198 to TAA40104.
There are no set workshops for this program but mentoring is available if required. Seminars/workshops can be facilitated for specific units, subject to sufficient enrolments being confirmed.
Please contact us for further details.

Assessments
Depending on the skills and experience of the candidate, assessment can include Recognition of Current Competencies, Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer. The BSZ98 Units which partially map to the TAA40104 Units can also be assessed through the provision of relevant work-based evidence and/or on-job practical demonstrations.
The remaining Units are assessed through a variety of means. These assessments include both formative and summative tasks which can be supplemented or replaced by work-based evidence and/or on-job experience. Where these are not available, other assessment tools are used. Candidates receive a Course Manual which includes detailed information about the assessment process.
Note that there are no examinations and all candidates are awarded competency on their individual merits rather than adjustment through "class norms". Candidates must meet all aspects of the Unit requirements - which can include assessment over a period of time and in several settings - before competency is confirmed.

Qualification
We issue both a full Certificate IV in Training and Assessment as well as a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Though this may appear to be unusual, it is a direct consequence of the mapping from BSZ40198 to the new TAA40104. The Mapping Guide provided by the Department of Education, Training and the Arts in Queensland identifies three electives which have a direct relationship from the BSZ40198 to the TAA40104, but only two are required for the full Certificate.
In line with our policy of recognizing all of the competencies completed by candidates, we issue a Statement of Attainment for the third elective Unit which is gained by Credit Transfer from the BSZ40198 (provided that the appropriate older unit has already been achieved). Unless the candidate requests otherwise, the SoA is usually issued for TAADEL405A Coordinate and facilitate distance-based learning.
All of our qualifications are recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework and therefore are accepted nationally.
All applicants should note that Statements of Attainment are nationally recognised documents relating to the attainment of individual Units of Competency or accredited short courses.
Under National Recognition principles, all Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are legally obliged to give you immediate credit for any Statement of Attainment relating to nationally recognised training for any identical Unit on their Scope of Registration. This credit transfer must be automatic and applied independently of other assessment arrangements.
If an RTO does not give you credit for an identical Unit of Competency, or if an employer refuses to recognise your Qualification or Statement from HBTA, please contact us and your State Training Authority (Department of Education, Training and the Arts in Queensland) for advice.
