Qualifications available from the Academy
The health sector continues to enjoy strong growth, particularly in the support services and complementary health sectors. Healthy Business Training Academy is proud to offer a number of programs for those who wish to either gain entry into this industry, improve their employment options or confirm existing skills.
The Certificate III and Certificate IV in Health Administration is available to applicants Australia-wide. These qualifications are ideally suited to those who have a primarly administrative and support role within a hospital, medical centre or similar setting.
Pathology collection is a growth industry within Australia at present. The Certificate III in Pathology is regarded by many collection centres as the minimum entry level for permanent employment. The Certificate IV in Pathology is ideal for those currently working in the industry within a supervisory capacity.
For logistical reasons, we not accepting new enrolmentst for either the Certificate III or Certificate IV in Pathology. However, non-practical units from the Certificate III in Pathology can be completed through our short course program.
We apologise for this inconvenience.
At present, we only have partial delivery for the other Health Training Package qualifications listed on our complementary health short course page. The units listed are all common competencies and provide a range of business administration or workplace safety skills which cross many qualifications in the Health Training Package.

Common competencies available from the Academy
The Academy offers the common competencies for the Complementary Health field in the HLT07 Health Training Package.
These Units are available in a range of modules which complement specialist training in qualifications such as:
- Certificate III in Pathology;
- Certificate III and IV in Health Administration; and
- Advance Diploma in Naturopathy.
Our modules are designed to cater to the needs of both complementary health practitioners as well as general health workers.
Candidates completing single units or a module of several units receive a Statement of Attainment which is nationally recognised.
The Health Programmes Information Kit provide more detail about the modules and delivery options.

Delivery options
All of the modules are delivered primarily through self-paced training and assessment combined with mentoring and workshops for some modules where practical assessment is required. These are posted on our workshop dates page as sessions are confirmed.
You can request Recognition of Prior Learning, Recognition of Current Competencies and/or Credit Transfer. More information about these options is available here.
If you are currently working, or have worked recently in the health industry (general or complementary fields), you can also include work-based evidence provided authenticity can be adequately demonstrated. Please contact us for further information about this option.

Recognition assessment
There are many ways to complete a program. This process recognises that you may not be a 'clean slate'. You may have completed training with another organisation (registered or unregistered training organisation or witn an employer, for example). You may also have working and life experience which you can use to demonstrate that you can already fulfill the tasks required by your chosen unit/s of competency.
There are four ways you can obtain a recognition assessment:
- Recognition of Prior Learning - your previous learning experiences & decided on the basis of documentary or interview evidence
- Recognition of Current Competencies - your current skills and skills, gained through a variety of means which do not inlcude formal learning, decided using a variety of methods
- National Recognition - automatically applies for an identical unit (same code, title and standards) in your program with us
- Credit Transfer - requires a judgement on our part between broadly equivalent (but not identical) Units or modules (combination of units) from accredited courses.
If you are interested in applying for Recognition, we recommend that you read the Health Programs RPL Handbook before contacting us and requesting an Application for an RPL Kit. The Handbook contains important and useful information regarding the collection of appropriate evidence. It also describes the process which we are obliged to follow in assessing Recognition applications.

Nominal duration
In most cases, an applicant could expect to complete a module within four to twelve weeks. Generally, we allow candidates six months from date of enrolment to complete their short course module. Candidates enrolling in a full certificate are usually expected to complete all training and assessment activities within twelve months of commencing their studies.
All candidates are reminded about our Progression Policy, particularly those who are eligible for enrolment through the Productivity Places Program.

Training Resources
All applicants receive a study guide which includes reading material and assessments. In most cases, additional text books are not required. Online research is often necessary and a reading log must be completed for most modules developed by Sea Eagle Publications.
Most resources now come with assessment manuals as templates on CD-ROM so that you can complete the tasks on your home or work computer and send in your assessments as email attachments. In addition, some modules can be completed through eLearning.
Some candidates do find, however, that the resources mentioned in the recommended reading lists included within Sea Eagle Publications' resources are useful. Copies of some items (particularly those published by Sea Eagle Publications) are available for short-term loan or purchase. For enquiries, please contact the Director of Studies.
